In Helsinki, we offer weekly classes for different levels from new beginners all the way to open championship dancers during the school year 2017-18. We also have separate classes for ceili dances – traditional group dances – and children. Besides weekly classes we also offer a variety of shorter courses on different aspects of Irish dance throughout the year.
The dancers and teachers in Helsinki are actively involved in many things. Competing and taking grade exams provide a way to set progressive goals for many of our dancers, and in 2017 we hosted, together with our collaborators, the first ever Helsinki Feis. We also perform regularly, e.g., in our own small spring show, in the semi-traditional St. Patrick’s Day flash mob, and in various different festivals and events. Our teachers have also taught short Irish dance -inspired sessions e.g. at workplaces and at the Riverdance VIP event.
